The Beatnuts' logo - which first appeared on the cover of their breakout 1993 EP Intoxicated Demons - was detourned from the Reid Miles-designed cover for Hank Mobley's essential 1965 Blue Note LP The Turnaround. Simple, red, direct and eminently tattooable - it's everything a good logo should be. It's also open to interpretation; is it the forked tail of deviltry? Is it a rudderless life suddenly seized by the blessing of pragmatism? Pick your poison.

Dude... your blog is awesome for a nerd like me!
You should create a site and get it off Blogger which seems pretty decrepit at this point.
Hey there... this blog is awesome! I stumbled across this and really enjoyed a lot of the backstory on these logos (Sugarcubes Sperm!, Black Flag bars).
You might want to consider moving this off of Blogger.
Thanks as ever for your kind and thoughtful comments about the work - and yes, I do realize there are people scolding me for mistakes that shall at some point be corrected - Blogger has its downsides but the greatest detractor at this point is my attention that remains somewhat diffuse in the face of other more recent epics. To be continued! Optimally, I mean.
